McGuinness to face Perez, Dilmaghani in co-headliner February 10
Lee Baxter Promotions has promised a big 2018. They look to be well on their way to delivering.
After announcing that Logan McGuinness (25-1-1) would return to the ring, FightOn can now confirm that McGuinness will take on Mexican fighter Ulises Perez (17-6) in his return bout on February 10.
If Perez’ name sounds familiar, that’s for good reason. In July, Perez headlined at the Danforth Music Hall against Alex Dilmaghani (16-1) in a scrappy, entertaining affair. Perez may be familiar to Quebec fans as well, having lost via TKO to Ayaz Hussain (13-1) at the Bell Centre in January of 2017.
The bout will be McGuinness’ first since suffering the first loss of his career, a unanimous decision defeat at the hands of Argentinian fighter Horacio Alfredo Cabral (21-1-1) in March of 2017.
After undergoing knee surgery, which Baxter says was partially to blame for his shortcoming against Cabral, McGuinness will be looking to prove he still belongs amongst the elite Canadian super featherweights.
In the co-main event, Dilmaghani will fight an opponent to be announced. It is expected to be an eight-round affair.
Dilmaghani last fought on November 11 at the Powerade Centre in Brampton, making easy work of Tuomo Eronen.
More bouts, a location and ticket information are all expected to be announced soon.
