Russian prospect Grigoryan joins United Promotions’ March bill

It was in July of 2015 that United Promotions and Eye of the Tiger, two of Canada’s top promotors, announced that they’d be joining forces in terms of talent exchange and possible co-promotion.

The highlight to date was the all-Canadian clash between Brandon Cook and Steven Butler that headlined at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Now, Ontario fans are going to see some of Eye of the Tiger’s exciting young talent. United Promotions’ Tyler Buxton confirmed to FightOn.ca that Russian-Armenian featherweight prospect Andranik Grigoryan has been added to the promotion’s March 17 card.

Grigoryan is 4-0 as a professional fighter, with three of his bouts taking place in Quebec. In his last outing, Grigoryan outpointed tough Mexican fighter Emanuel Armendariz over six rounds.

Currently, Grigoryan is ranked 227 in the featherweight division, a ranking which is expected to grow throughout the coming year. While no details were shared on who Grigoryan's March 17 opponent would be, FightOn was told that it would be a quality opponent due to Eye of the Tiger's desire to move Grigoryan quickly through the professional ranks.

Tickets to the March 17 event, headlined by Josh O'Reilly, are available via Ticketmaster.

Here’s a closer look at Grigoryan during his time as a member of Russian World Series of Boxing team:
