Adonis Stevenson vs. Badou Jack - what we know

On Monday, there was a flurry of action in the Ontario boxing scene.

RDS broke the story that the long anticipated bout between Adonis Stevenson and Badou Jack for the WBC light-heavyweight championship would be moving from its originally scheduled location of the Bell Centre in Montreal to an undisclosed location in Toronto.

Throughout the day, rumours were abound about the event landing at either the Air Canada Centre or Ricoh Colosseum in Toronto. As well, Niagara’s Scotiabank Centre seemed to be in play with Lee Baxter Promotions having already booked the venue for a previously scheduled show.

Late in the day, it was made official that the event would take place at the Air Canada Centre, a downtown venue that seats just shy of 20,000.

At this point, BoxRec has listed Mikael Zewksi, Oscar Rivas, Sebastian Bouchard, Christian Mbilli and Mathieu Bauderlique as fighters taking part in the undercard.

However, the press invitation listed Baxter as being part of the promotional team for this event. While his card scheduled for Niagara has not formally been cancelled, many in the community expect it to be rescheduled. With this in mind, it’s possible that some of his bouts scheduled for the same date in Niagara are moved to this card.

More details are expected to be announced today. Keep it locked to FightOn as we bring you details on this event.
