Kell Brook vs. Brandon Cook scheduled for July 28
Brandon Cook has wanted a mega-fight for some time. He’s finally going to get it.
Mathroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn turned to Twitter this morning to announce that Ontario’s Cook (20-1) will square off with former world champion Kell Brook at the 02 Arena in Greenwich on July 28.
Cook is currently ranked 9th by the WBA, 11th by the IBF and 4th by the WBO. Brook is ranked 3rd by both the WBC and WBA, as well as 6th by both the IBF and WBO.
The bout will serve as a world title eliminator, likely putting the winner into the top spot for a world title shot before too long.
Cook took to Instagram shortly after the announcement, saying that he couldn’t have asked for a better birthday gift and giving thanks to Hearn and United Promotions’ Tyler Buxton for the opportunity.
The bout will take place on the undercard of the highly anticipated heavyweight clash between Dillian Whyte and Joseph Parker. Other talent announced for the card includes Conor Benn, Katie Taylor and Joshua Buatsi.
While not official yet, it’s likely that Canadian fight fans will be able to watch the card through the DAZN app.
FightON will have more information about this fight as it becomes available.
